There is a Mercy Jones who got married at St Leonard Shoreditch in 1838 whose father was Jesse Jones, a smith. I wonder if it's the same family?
Edit - probably not, there seem to have been a few Jesse Joneses in the area.

I think only two of his four children reached adulthood and they both married pre 1837. Neither was a Mercy .....unless she was never baptised of course!

I've found a possible burial for one of the other children in St Martin Outwich 1804 - Jesse, baptised 1796- and it says that he was the nephew of the sextoness. It probably wouldn't help at all but I'd love to find out who she was! Googling doesn't help much.
