I have him on the 1871 census at Broad Street, Newcastle under Lyme, with his wife Sarah Jane (nee Hickman) and three children.

I have Sarah Jane on the 1861 census at Brindley Street, Newcastle under Lyme, with her parents James and Mary Ann.

I have tried all the parameters I can think of, but can't find (Thomas) William.

I can't find him on the 1851 either.

Can anyone see anything I've missed?

It says on the 1871 census that he was born in Somerset, Wells nr Bath.

Oh yes, he's definitely a bit Bath and Wellsish...

But where is he earlier?

Goodness me, the 1911 census states that Thomas and his wife had 17 children! He lived until he was 84, so obviously so many children didn't worry him.

FMP isn't coming up with anything for Bathford, Somerset.

How odd, that reference doesn't work on FMP.

Seems to be missing from findmypast as it comes up with no results if you do a reference number search.
(snap, Elizabeth!)
