The GRO Ireland mob only have death certs from 1924 onwards....???
I'm after one from the 1890s.
Any ideas? Thanks.

I got two death certificates from there a couple of months ago for 1891 and 1912.
Wendy......did you fill out a special form. The T&Cs say deaths only from 1924 on.

Agh! Their site says you can order certs for "Marriage's" and "Civil Partnership's"!
But all I can see about post-1924 deaths is that you will get a "new style certificate". So I suppose you will get an old-style cert for a pre-1924 death.
OK.......thatnks. Will just try and pretend I saw nothing...lol

You are ordering it from the GRO site, not the HSE, aren't you?

I asked for photocopies. They were cheaper.
My siste is ordering it from the GRO site Merry posted on my other thread.
Sis has tried umpteen ways now and there is a drop down menu for the death certs and it only goes back to 1924. I think there must be another site...............although it does say you can get the photocopies.....just nothing prior to 1924.

I downloaded a form from that site, filled in the details and then posted it. Got the certificates back 2 weeks later.
Wendy...I'm going back over there to have yet another look...I've got to be doing something really dumb....lol
I think I figured it out. Sis is trying to order it online. That might make a difference.
Thanks Wendy...
....just nothing prior to 1924.
Very unusual, it's usually the other way round and they wont give us current info.
True Toni......I didn't look at how late they go. I wish NSW had births for the 1920s....so many questions might be answered.....or not...lol
I know Libby. Do you want the beginning or end of the 1920's?
Both......lol
1923 for my aunt and 1928/9 for my mum.
When I was 13 we moved house. The lady behind us worked for NSW BDM and was quite high up. If only I'd know and been interested in family history then. I could have gone in with her and I believe that in those days anyone could go and look at the registers.
Toni...it's just as well I live the other end of the sate to the BDM office. I'd probably be in jail...lol
I've been trying to find if mum's birth was registered for years now...
Do you have suspected names and dates? I know we have discussed this before but have you written a letter explaining the entire situation to see if they would search for you?
