Hi Guys, after successfully tracing alot of inlaws family tree(with alot of help from this forum) i have finally started on my side of the family but im stuck already!! My Grandmother was Lilly May Rattray 1916 - 1999(died in Nuneaton) married to Arthur Price 1911-1967 (born in stockport) but i cant find there parents?? anybody help?
Hello, I think Lily was perhaps born illegitimately. If you buy her birth certificate you will at least learn her mother's full name.
Births Apr-Jun 1916, Nuneaton.
Lily M Rattray, MMN Rattray, 6d/1229
Too many Arthur Price's born circa 1911 to establish which is your grandfather. I didn't find one registered in Stockport but a few registered in Lancashire. Nearest birth year for an Arthur registered Stockport is 1907.
You may need to buy their marriage certificate to find Arthur's father's name.
The marriage entry shows his name to be William A
Name: William A Price
Spouse Surname: Rattray
Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1933
Registration district: Nuneaton
Inferred County: Warwickshire
Volume Number: 6d
Page Number: 1460
Find Spouse: Lily M Rattray
There isn't a William A born Stockport around 1911 either, so, as Libby said, you are going to need his marriage cert.
Are you aware of any siblings for Arthur?

You would be best to get their marriage certificate to see the fathers' names.
