Henry and Hannah Maria Fulloon were on the 1861 census.

Class: RG9; Piece: 255; Folio: 115; Page: 41

Henry died in 1866 and daughter Ellen married William Edward Ridpath on 27 Aug 1871. Besides that the family disappear after 1861.

The variations on Fulloon I can think of are Fullum, Fullon, Falloon, Fulson but I still can't find them.

They may have immigrated but I don't have FMP for passenger lists and I can't find them elsewhere.

The passenger lists on FMP only start in 1890 so not likely to be of much use here, but anyway, just to say you can search them without a sub. There aren't any Fulloons listed on there, even including variants.

So we know who we're looking for, this is the family in 1861:

1A Three Colt Lane, Bethnal Green, London
Henry Fulloon Head Mar 45 Hair Dresser Surrey Southwark
Hannah M Wife Mar 47 Dress Maker Do St Georges
Henry Do Son 15 Book Binder Middlesex M E O Tn
John T(?) Do Son 13 Scholar Do Do
Matilda T(?) Do Daur 7 Do Do B Gn
Ellen Do Daur 6 Do Do Do

And we're looking for what happened to Hannah, Henry jr, John, and Matilda, is that right?

Okay, there is a marriage for Henry jr 20 Sep 1863 at St James Clerkenwell, to Jane Elizabeth Joysey. His occupation is Vellum Winder, residence White Conduit Street. She is age 20 (same age as Henry), father John Joysey, boot maker.

Hmm, there's a Matilda Fulloon death Apr-Jun 1907 Mile End, age 52, but if that's the same Matilda, she should be on the censuses.

And a Matilda Fulloon marrying Arthur Clewley 5 Feb 1884 in Queensland, but on her death registration her parents are Charles Fulloon and Mary Frances, so it's not her.

Looking for Jane Elizabeth Joysey before her marriage, to find her birthplace for looking on later censuses, she is on the 1851 census in Clerkenwell, as Jane Joysey, age 8 birthplace Horsham Sussex.

Some of the baptisms are on FamilySearch, so now I can see that John was baptised as John William Fulloon. Can't see what happened to him though.

Thanks Kate for looking. I'll see if I can find anything about Henry.

Matilda was baptised Feb 1851 but I just realised I don't have her on the census. I'l look for her too.

There are a few more children not on the 1861.

Hannah Maria reg. 2Q 1844 in Stepney, she was on the 1851.
Louisa Ann reg 1Q 1849 bap. Apr 1849 in Stepney she was on the 1851 too.

The child Matilda on the 1861 I think is also known as Martha. She was reg 3Q 1853 as Martha.

FOr interest I found the family as Eillma on the 1851 census.

The Matilda who was baptised in 1851 died in 1852 if I remember correctly from looking at them this morning.

That's right Kate. I've found the baptism and burial records on ancestry.

I think I found John William on the 1851 on FMP. I can't find it on ancestry though. Very frustrating. FMP's index has him as John Fullon, born 1846 living in Stepney Middlesex.

This one may be the person FMP is showing you:

HO107; Piece: 1553; Folio: 593; Page: 16

Ancestry have transcribed him correctly as Fulton though his name looks like Fullon. To be sure, you could try searching FMP and add further innfo to your search from the ancestry page and see if he stll comes up.

Thanks Merry I'll have a look now.

I haven't cross checked with FMP but the parents and John look like Fulson and the 2 daughters, both called Mary, look like Fulton. Very strange.

ok it is the same person as I saw on FMP and it isn't the John I was looking for. :(
