Research for a friend, so nothing to add to BK6

A friend told me her ancestor was a valet to a man who eventually left her ancestor a legacy. Sadly little is known about this, but the boss was apparently called 'Quinan'. No one has ever seen this written down, so that spelling is my interpretation of what I was told. I have seen variations such as Queenan and Quinnan etc on Ancestry.

I have found her ancestor on the 1901 census as a valet in a household. It's most likely he was valet to an Irishman called Kinahan.

What's the chances Kinahan has evolved into Quinan? I wondered if Kinahan might be pronounced Kin-nan which sounds very close to Quinan, but I would have thought it was pronounced Kin-a-han if I wasn't trying to force these people to fit the story! lol

Pronunciations vary from county to county and within counties. Try pronouncing Killererin in English :) - I have heard it sound different several times in Ireland. (Terrible grammar, sorry)
