Please check my logic and thoughts...

Hi,

I am trying to determine who the parents of someone are.

I shall start with what I know.

Sarah Owen was born in Shiffnal, Shropshire on 14 May 1865. Father's name Thomas Owen, Mothers name Emma Owen, formerly Edge.
John Owen was born in Shiffnal, Shropshire on 21 February 1871. Father's name Thomas Owen, Mothers name Emma Owen, formerly Edge.

Thomas Owen and Emma Edge married 2 January 1868 in Shiffnal, Shropshire.
Thomas Owen of full age Bachelor Miner Snedshill John Owen Charter master
Emma Edge of full age Spinster --- Snedshill William Edge Labourer

Emma signed with an x.

Witnesses at the wedding were William Edge (x) and Emma Beech (x)

By 1881 Emma is living in Altofts, Yorkshire and is a widow.

I (and others!) have looked for the family in 1871 but never been able to find them, so my information about Thomas is limited. I know he was "Of Full Age" in 1865 (so born prior to 1844) and that his Father was John Owen, a Charter Master.

I think this is Thomas in 1851, his Father is John, a collier.

This John and Sarah had several other children -

One of Thomas' sons married one of Reuben's daughters, and another son married one of William's daughters.



So, do people think that I am right in thinking this is my Thomas' family? If so, then I need to try and work out which birth certificate to order to find out Sarah's maiden name.

The problem is, there are several with the name Thomas Owen around this area at this time, one of whom married Emma Edge's sister, Eliza Edge!

Any thoughts and comments appreciated.

John and Sarah have a 13 year old grandaughter, Sarah Owen living with them in 1881.

John is a chartermaster in 1871 :)

Sorry if I'm missing something, but don't you mean he was of full age in 1868, ie. born before 1847?

Hmm, just looked closer at the 1871 census, cousin John is 67. Found a possible baptism on the IGI, son of Anne.

Ooo, 1861 there is an Aunt Briscoe.

Possible marriage between John Owen and (possibly) Sarah Briscoe.

You need to change "born before 1834" to "born before 1844" in that case :)
