I found on Family Search a baptism at Up Marden, Sussex of William Avery on 11/10/1732, child of William Avery and Catherine. This fits with the age at death, but Up Marden would be about 40 miles on horse back from Ticehurst, so should I consider it a possibility?
I'd like to think this is a possible, as by an amazing co-incidence, I was taken on a visit to the tiny church at Up Marden, when I visited the church at Harting where my OH's family came from ... gives me goosebumps .. Must look up my photos ....

It's possible, but you would need more evidence to prove it's the same William.

Yes a will would be great Kate ... I found a possible birth of William Senior at Harting in 1698 which is very close to Marden. He was son of John, which is the name of William Junior's oldest son, but with common names like that it doesn't prove much.
