My research here was some time ago and I can't remember why I decided to claim this couple as Maria's parents, it looks less likely now I'm having to look at it. Maria was born in Torbryan. Her father was Philip, a labourer (from Maria's marriage cert in 1838) and on the 1841 census the one I've claimed here he was a farmer living in Staverton (about 4 miles from Torbryan) .
I'm off to look again...
EDIT: I can see why I've picked him out of the three or four possibles on that census but realise now that the couple that were Maria's parents may already have died by that census. I'll need to get to see the parish records for Torbryan I guess... off to look again
