Rose Ryan's parents?

I went to Kew today to the National Archives and I apologise for not informing you all beforehand. It was a very last minute decision as I was until late yesterday meant to be elsewhere today.

I started my research into my nephews family which was actually dedicated to my brother in laws families and atempted to trace them through the censuses.

For one name (not Ryan) I looked at the 1911 census (the most recent available) and found that the father was born in GERMANY! help! They dont appear on any censuses prior to 1911 despite their children being born in England and the husband and wife being married for 15 years and married in this country.

I had a great day and as we were all leaving I met Phoenix. Neither of us knew each other were there until then.

Have you guessed the names of Rose Ryan's parents yet?

I thought the German question and the Ryan question were completely different things?

So shouldn't they (the ones where the father was born in Germany) be here in 1901?

No, I live in Dorset. Fishbourne is in Sussex (not that I'd ever heard of it before!)

And this would be the marriage:

Marriages Dec 1896
Gardiner Charles Harbord Islington 1b 469
JONES Nellie Martha Islington 1b 469
Rayson Florence Islington 1b 469
Weigold George Islington 1b 469

I'm wondering if maybe I'm looking at the wrong family?

JessBow

they are on 1911 in Westbourne Sussex , at least a Florence & a George are

WEIGOLD ALICE F 1900 11 Westbourne Sussex
WEIGOLD FLORENCE F 1871 40 Westbourne Sussex
WEIGOLD FLORENCE T F 1902 9 Westbourne Sussex
WEIGOLD FREDERICK M 1908 3 Westbourne Sussex
WEIGOLD GEORGE M 1864 47 Westbourne Sussex

If Florence and George are the right people, their marriage is on Ancestry LMA records, so their father's details etc are available. Do you need those?

Merry, can I just say how blooming brilliant you are. I have searched all day at Kew at not found that. Ludwig is actually Sydney or rather Syd on 1911.

Thank you.

Thank you.

The 1901 page looks like Lydney but certainly not Ludwig!

Maybe you could find George's immigration papers at Kew? TNA site is broken at the moment.
