Well if this is him in 1891 he's a Plasterer then :

Class: RG12; Piece: 2921; Folio 101; Page 25; GSU roll: 6098031.

I would say it's Horse something though?

Bernard is your grandfather
John is your great-grandfather
Thomas is your gg-ggrandfather?

So, have you got Bernard's birth cert and John and Ann's marriage cert?

The census ref Joanie gave for 1891 showed them at Back Queen St

They are at the same addy in 1881 (different number though):

Thos. FINNIGAN Head M Male 44 Dundalk, Ireland Labourer
Mary FINNIGAN Wife M Female 43 Mayo County Of
John FINNIGAN Son U Male 19 Lpool Labourer
Edwd. FINNIGAN Son Male 16 Lpool
Thos. FINNIGAN Son Male 12
Wm. FINNIGAN Son Male 9
Bernard FINNIGAN Son Male 8

John is 28 in 1891 and 19 in 1881, but only 4 in 1871? Also where are Thomas and Edward in 1871?

I have Bernard Finnigan on the 1891 with father John and mother Ann

I went to 1881..Class: RG11; Piece: 3633; Folio: 27; Page: 50; Line: ; GSU roll: 1341870.

And then the 1871 - as above.

I am getting you confused - sorry:o

I think this is your lot in 1871:

RG10; Piece: 3788; Folio: 76; Page: 33

surname Fighan.

The parents ages have gone a bit askew and they are now born in different Irish counties (!!) but the children match exactly, so I don't know what to think!! lol

Do you have John's birth cert (about 1862/63)?

I would just take this one step at a time. Do you know her maiden name?

Don't get any cert until you have the one 'before' it (or after it lol)

I think it is very easy to go astray with some of these Irish families!! (Oops, that sounds racist! I just mean there are lots with the same name etc)
