This administration is dated 1808, stating that Jeremiah Haragan died on board ship in 1804. The allegation etc is made by his widow Elizabeth. I am wondering if this my Jeremiah and Elizabeth but Elizabeth remarried in 1805. Could she still have claimed once remarried?

Should also add that the only other idea of Jeremiah's occupation that I have is on one baptism where he says he is a Ropemaker so the Mariner thing is abit iffy too ;(

Opinions welcome....

Going by admons / probates that I've seen before, she could still have claimed after remarrying but I would expect it to state her new married name in that case.

Thanks Kite. I've found that there is a pay book and various other ledgers for his ship at The British Library which might tell me more.

Never been to the BL.... could be interesting!

This is the marriage of Elizabeth to her second husband, Edward Dow. I'd be grateful if someone could look at the signature of the second witness - I think it may be Thos Amas but that could be wishful thinking as the co-signatory on the Admon is a Sarah Amass....

It's the last marriage on the left hand page.:)

Thanks

I'm almost certain that this is my Elizabeth now - the address she gives on the Administration is Essex St and all her children with Edward Dow were born in Essex St!!!

I've managed sort out my own question somehow :d- thanks for looking:D

Second witness on that marriage looks like Thos Amas to me.

Thanks again Kite - I'm quite excited by this - it confirms what I thought about Elizabeth and it's the first breakthrough on a direct line that I've had in ages:d

I agree, Thomas Amas.
