Elizabeth...it's actually Kirkby. If you see the original it could be Hinkley but I think the Bristol lot thought Kirkbys wouldn't be that far down south and called her Hinkley.

I have a miniture portrait of both of them and all the wills on both sides way back.

The Ariels liked to get their brides from all over England (as long as her family had money)..lol

Their children were Myles KIRKBY Ariel, David KIRKBY Ariel, etc, etc.......right through to the present day.

Libby, I don't think they do corrections or notes to the records, do they?

You are lucky because you know the truth, but someone else would take the information on face value and even if they checked the register they might not get the correct surname of the bride.

Kirkby to Hinkley is really a step to far, isn't it!

Elizabeth....it's actually not that different. It had me stumped for years. I knew our William married E. Kirkby, and thought that record was a cousin marrying of the same day.......lol

If you look at the actual register, you could get Hinkley out of Kirkby. Try to write it in old style writing....

It is a lesson for young players....lol
