Great Bedwyn records at Trowbridge?

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone with knowledge of Wiltshire could help me at all. My family had a number of baptisms that should be at Great Bedwyn; however, they are listed as Trowbridge on both familysearch and Ancestry.

Would the baptisms really have been at Trowbridge or have they been transcribed/indexed incorrectly?

An example is Mary Dobson who appears on Familysearch actually as baptised Great Bedwyn 21st March 1830 but this baptism is at Trowbridge on Ancestry.

I am a little confused :confused: (doesnt take much)

The entry on ancestry is from the BIVRI (British Isles Vital Records Index) and FamilySearch also has a record from that plus the Great Bedwin one. So I'm guessing Great Bedwin is right and Trowbridge is the nearest large town or something like that.

Apart from Mary's baptism, all my other Dobson's are listed as Trowbridge only but I think it should say Great Bedwyn.
