Richard Eastwood is the father of Benjamin Eastwood bap 5/11/1769 in Bradford Yorkshire. Benjamin married Sally Steel on 8/12/1789 in Bradford Yorkshire.

Benjamin has 7 siblings all baptised St Peters, Bradford, Yorkshire :
John 21/1/1756
Sarah 15/5/1758
Thomas bap 27/7/1760 bur 29/7/1763
Richard 12/9/1762
Betty bap 2/9/1764 bur 30/6/1766
Thomas 11/1/1767
Elizabeth 2/2/1772

I'm trying to find Richard's wife but there are no marriages that seem right at Bradford.

There is a marriage for a Richard Eastwood to a Lucy Simpson in Elland on 24/9/1745. Lucy is from Norland.
Richard Eastwood Marriage (http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?htx=View&r=5538&dbid=2256&iid=32355_249049-00171&fn=Richard&ln=Eastwood&st=d&ssrc=&pid=5504925)

There is a gap between the marriage and the first child in Bradford though.

There are a few children baptised in Elland after the marriage. These baptisms say Richard is from Soyland.
Betty bap 9/2/1745 (ok just before the marriage) Betty Eastwood (http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?htx=View&r=5538&dbid=2256&iid=32355_249049-00078&fn=Betty&ln=Eastwood&st=d&ssrc=&pid=5495769)
Rachel bap Dec 1749 Rachel Eastwood (http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?htx=View&r=5538&dbid=2256&iid=32355_249049-00089&fn=Rachel&ln=Eastwood&st=d&ssrc=&pid=5496651)
Hannah bap 9/4/1751 Ripponden with Rishworth Hannah Eastwood (http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?htx=View&r=5538&dbid=2256&iid=32355_248892-00151&fn=Hannah&ln=Eastwood&st=d&ssrc=&pid=8820108)
Rebekah bap 24/6/1754 Rebekah Eastwood (http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?htx=View&r=5538&dbid=2256&iid=32355_249049-00102&fn=Rebekah&ln=Eastwood&st=d&ssrc=&pid=5498137)
Rebekah appears twice, in the Elland Register with a heading Ripponden baptisms and in the Ripponden with Rishworth register as Rebecca Rebecca Eastwood (http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?htx=View&r=5538&dbid=2256&iid=32355_248892-00154&fn=Rebecca&ln=Eastwood&st=d&ssrc=&pid=8820300) (Richard is a weaver from Soyland).

Now Richard and Lucy Eastwood and family disappear from Elland and Ripponden with Rishworth just before my Richard appears with his family in Bradford. Do you think the Richard's are the same? I can't find anything in Bradford that says what Richard's occupation is. If he was a weaver then I would be very happy.

Sorry this is so long but I wanted to document it all incase it is my family.

Do any of the baptisms give the mother's name as Lucy, or do they all just give father's name?

None of the baptisms give the mothers name and I can't, yet, find a death for either Richard or Lucy. I have found a marriage for a Lucy Eastwood, not in Bradford though, but it doesn't give an age or marital status for me to know if it real is her.

I can't find a burial for a Lucy Eastwood.

There is a burial for Benjamin Eastwood at the same church on 30 April 1832.

Must be yours, aged 62.

Thanks Elizabeth I missed the burial for Richard. Have you looked at the image? I can't work out the word after Bradford, although it might be Comber?

I did have the one for Benjamin in 1832.

I'll have to find that marriage for Lucy Eastwood and check it out more.

The marriage I found was before Richard died so it shouldn't be my? Lucy.

Toni, I don't have an image, unfortunately, just the transcription.

It might be Comber. It's hard to be sure.

I've submitted an unreadable image to Ancestry about it Kate. I don't know if they try to get a better scan or not. It would be helpful.

I've googled comber and it is part pf the weaving process so it could be my Richard is the Richard that has the children in Elland, probably to Lucy Simpson.

I'd like Richard and Lucy to be mine as my Richard's great granddaughter marries a Simpson from Bradford and Lucy is a common name from then on.

I had forgotten the Simpsons were from Yorkshire, as my branches on each family moved to Staffordshire. I'll have to see what the registers give me for the Simpsons.

Dad always said the family story was that someone was a pharmacist (he was a chemist) who came form Yorkshire and the family was from Scotland before that.
