Any chance someone could look for the following person on the 1920 US census and see whether he had a wife and family at all (he did, but they were left in the UK about 1905)
Isaac CLULEE b 1867 UK
He died in 1922 and at that date was living at 347 South San Pedro St, LA, California.
Forgot to say sometimes he calls himself James Isaac Culee, which was actually his father's name!

I can't see him, but I found him crossing the border from Canada to the US in Oct 1907, calling himself James I Clulee, age 39, married, occupation Cook. Last permanent residence Vancouver. Giving his wife Caroline's details in England for next of kin. Destination Seattle, Washington.

Oh, and he's on a passenger list travelling to Canada (from Liverpool) on the "Lake Champlain", arriving 10 Apr 1907, J J Clulee age 39.
Thanks that's a great start. The family rumour was that he kept telling his wife he was raising money to bring her over, but actually had another wife in America.
Merry the only one I can find s a

Thanks for looking, Babs. I don't think that one can be him because he emigrated as a child and mine was still here in 1905.
Seatle is in Washington State which is west coast, like California, but further north, alongside th Canadian boarder.
Just done quick search of washington and its bringing up same list in same order as doing the other one Merry sorry , Im not much good with looking for w/w stuff still learning after 2 yrs nearly ;;;lol

There is a record for him on the Naturalization Indexes for the Southern District of California. I can't seem to find the date though. I'll keep looking.

The indexes run from 6-3-1915 until October 1921. Presumably, being American, the start date is 3 June 1915. I've been through the alphabetic index. but there doesn't seem to be a definite date listed for his application or any more details.
I can't see anything else regarding him though - other than what has already been found.

I looked at that index entry last night; I seem to remember it was for just a statement of intention to apply for naturalisation at some future time.
