Research for a friend, so nothing to add to BK6

This is quite curious....

I have two brothers appearing on the Probate Calendar on Ancestry:

Josiah Hands, died 29th Nov 1895 at Kings Norton, Worcs. Probate to Ernest Banton 3rd March 1896

Charles Clulee Hands, died 29th Nov 1895 at Talana, Claremont, Capetown, Cape Colony, South Africa. Admin 14th Oct 1907 to Josiah Hands (father of both of them)

There is a death reg in the right Q for Josiah, so that date would appear to be correct, but I'm thinking perhaps the father, Josiah senr, got mixed up about the date of his son Charles's death, as otherwise it's a massive coincidence.

Any ideas on whether it's at all possible to discover anything about the death of Charles in SA? (I've tried Gale Newspapers without any luck)

If you Google for Charles Clulee Hands, there are a few postings from Rootsweb etc saying he died in 1898.

You could try the email addresses on this one in case they are still in use:

Oooh, I remember now wondering how he could be on a ships passenger list to The Cape three years after his death! Now it would seem from Rootsweb he may have died the year he went out there (1898)
