I'm sure this has been asked before but I'll ask it again as I can't remember :)

If a person is adopted does their original birth registration stay in the indexes - say on Ancestry?
I remember reading somewhere that 'adopted' is written somewhere in the margin - or am I having another senior moment? :(

Adopted would be written on the actual birth certificate, Sue, not on the index. Yes, the original birth registration will still be in the indexes.

Thanks Kite, that's what I thought.
A now deceased relative had a baby back in the late 1960s. I looked for the birth registration (I have the exact date of birth) but couldn't see it. There is a possibility the baby was born in Northern Ireland, in which case it wouldn't be showing on Ancestry or would it?

No, the Northern Irish indexes post-1922 aren't online at all, Sue.
