Someone on Rootschat posted this on one of my threads

" Incidently, I also picked up in the 1891 census for West Derby, a James Oakes (aged 39) from Middlewich with wife, Isabella (aged 35) from West Derby, Liverpool. There were 5 children, Emily (18), Margaret (9), James (2), Samuel (1) and Percy (<1), all born West Derby.

Do you know about them? "

....if the details are right...Isabella would have had Emily in 1873 and would have been 17 ...the only possible marriage I can find is
sep qtr 1876 James Oakes to Isabella Taylor West Derby 8b 795
on lancsbmd it states they married in St Jude ,Edge Hill , Liverpool

so ...as my Oakes are from Middlewich and Over in 1730`s , I am trying to see if there is any connection...can someone who has a little spare time se if there is a marriage of James Oakes to an Isabella ??? around 1872/3 that I have missed ...in the meantime I am going to see if I can find the babtism of Emily Oakes 1872/73 in Garston or West Derby area....thanks.....allan

OK...it looks like the census was mistranscribed for Emily Oakes
Emily Maud Oakes
born 10th July 1877
babtised 24th July 1877 at St Peter ,Liverpool
parents James Oakes and Isabella
on Record Pilot

sorry ....obviously Emily should have been 13 not 18 in 1891 census
so I should be able to carry on now...fingers crossed
ADDED
1881 address is NOT Garston ...
11 Boyton St
West Derby
Liverpool
on 1881 census James is born Macclesfield can someone please double check that 1891 census for James Oakes says Middlewich please ??...bit confused
thanks....allan

Yes, it does say Middlewich Cheshire for 1891, but in 1881 it doesn't say Macclefield, it says Middle??ch, Cheshire, so presumably also Middlewich!!

OK...it looks like the census was mistranscribed for Emily Oakes

Ancestry has her transcribed as 13 which is what the census page says.

Thanks Merry...there is a connection to my family ...distant...but a connection just the same...I don`t think it is worth adding them to my tree ...but it was fun looking...thanks to all who helped....allan
