I can't read the second line after the word Eastwood.

I'd appreciate it if someone can decipher it for me.

No 1059 Banns of Marriage between Abraham Crowther .... and Sally Eastwood spr (= spinster) both of Sowerby in this parish.

The bit that puzzles me is what it says after Abraham Crowther - it looks like W W. I think one of the W's is for widower, but not sure about the other one!

That's what I read too, but Sowerby isn't in the parish of Huddersfield, is it?

Having said that, there are two places called Sowerby (one in the North Riding of Yorks and the other in the West Riding). The West Riding one is only seven miles from Huddersfield, but I thought it was it's own parish?

I checked on the previous page and there was a much clearer entry that said Sowerby in this parish so I'm sure it's Sowerby. As for which Sowerby it is, not so sure!

I have enough trouble working out where things are in England without there being 2 close together.

I can't think there is yet another Sowerby in Huddersfield, so presume it must be the nearer of the two already mentioned, though that is much closer to Halifax than to Huddersfield.

In fact, Sowerby is in the parish of Halifax, according to genuki!
