Can anyone tell me how to order a Death Certificate for someone who died in 1971 when I can't find a GRO ref. No on Free BMD?

I know he died in in the City of London.

Do you want to tell us who it is, plus age etc in case we can find it?

Not an easy task otherwise.

What makes you sure of the place of death?

Do you want to post up the details that you have so we can see if we can find a GRO ref, Lesley? In theory you can order the cert without the refs but if the GRO can't find it either then they won't be able to produce the cert.

The name is Courtney George Ernest Taylor.

He was born 1914 so he would have been around 57.

He was my late uncle so I know from family that he was working in London when he died.

I did search on FMP and confirmed the place of death but do not have subs for the site and I do not know if they give the GRO ref.number.

Thanks for replies!

That's great Merry! Thanks very much for the information.

I know Taylor is a common name but being given his mother's maiden name of Courtney as his first name certainly helps in family history research!
