Not needed for BK6

Yes, I know what it means :D, but can anyone find Ogle Street in Marylebone on the 1841 or 1861 census? (I've been trying to find it on FMP address search, with no luck.)

The street still exists today, in the area bounded by Great Portland St, Euston Road, Tottenham Court Road and Goodge Street, just south west of Regents Park.

(as an aside, not only does the 1881 census have over 6,000 people living in a 'fictitious' place named 'Islinston' in London, but now I see there are 22,000 people listed as living in 'Marlebone'!! Tough luck if you enter the correct spellings in the Civil Parish box )

After a lot of fannying about on Ancestry looking at enumeration district descriptions (enumeration district 12 description sheet is totally blank!) I can tell you that Upper Ogle Street is in district 10.

Hope this helps.

Oooh, that's a great start, thank you Nell! I didn't mean you to go trawling for it though.....I just wondered why I couldn't find it on FMP?

Thanks again - will go and have a look now.

Thanks Elaine! I'm just trawling it. Pity they didn't bother with the door numbers as they did in 1836 (when OHs relatives were definitely living there)

sorry, 1861, should have said!

All Souls is of course All Souls Langham Place, next door to the BBC.

I didn't know that. I mean, I knew it was Langham Place, but that didn't mean a thing. :o

I bet these young sisters who were baptised there in 1836 would have been amazed by the BBC! lol And guess what? I couldn't find any connection to them in Ogle Street, but I did see four other surnames from OH's London tree living there! (have taken notes).

Thanks for all your help, Nell and Elaine :)
